All data files in this directory (the .parquet files under P04/, P29/, A31a/ and
mesh500r6/) are adapted from 国土数値情報 (National Land Numerical Information),
published by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT)
of Japan, and are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0
International licence (CC BY 4.0).

Only files whose year is marked as open data (CC BY 4.0) in the source are
included. Older years of some datasets are not licensed for redistribution and

Source materials noted by MLIT for 学校データ (P29, 2023), copied here as
they appear in the source:

  地理院地図（標準地図）（国土地理院）「測量法に基づく国土地理院長承認（使用）R 3JHs 917」

This approval is for use (使用) of GSI maps in preparing the data, not for
reproduction (複製); the P29 terms of use are CC BY 4.0 with no further
condition on redistribution. None of the other three datasets names a GSI
approval in its source materials.

Datasets whose source materials require GSI approval for reproduction
(for example 道路データ N13, 「本製品を複製する場合には、国土地理院の長の
承認を得なければならない。」) are not mirrored here.

These files were changed from the originals (2026-09-28):

  - Converted from the GeoJSON in the original zip files to GeoParquet.
  - Added a bbox column and sorted rows along a Hilbert curve.
  - For A31a, merged the GeoJSON files of each zip into one table and added a
    source_file column; the Kanto Regional Development Bureau file is split
    into two halves (part0, part1).
  - No attribute value or coordinate was changed; coordinates are JGD2011
    (EPSG:6668) as in the originals.
